As contractors know, there are certain tools that they need to have on hand at all times. No matter what field of contracting you’re in, there are some tools that are universally used.

Alberto Mordoki is a contractor and entrepreneur from Fullerton, California who has used almost every tool imaginable. He shares his insight into the tools that every contractor needs to have in their tool belt at all times.

Adjustable Wrench

Adjustable wrenches are both handy and convenient, namely because they prevent you from having to carry around several different types and sizes of wrenches in your toolbox. No contractor, including Alberto Mordoki, enjoys having a bulky, heavy toolbox always by his side. Investing in an adjustable wrench and other adjustable or all-in-one tools like the power drill is generally a good idea, both in terms of increased convenience and lightening the physical burden of carrying tools from site to site.

Power Drill

Of all the power tools in a contractor’s arsenal, Alberto Mordoki believes the power drill to be the most important one. The power drill is one of the most widely used tools across all contractor fields. This is because nowadays, modern power drills have many features that allow them to turn into other power tools. For example, modern drills often have different tool heads that enable them to also operate as electric screwdrivers or hammers, or impact drivers. Thus, being that the modern power drill is often an all-in-one tool, its uses are endless.

Electric Sander

If you plan on doing any painting on a project, which most contractors do, then an electric sander is a must. Alberto Mordoki says that electric sanders are especially useful when it comes to making a surface as smooth as possible, prior to priming and painting it. In addition to painting, Mordoki claims that many contractors find electric sanders useful for other tasks as well, such as doing roof work or building a bathroom. These devices are extremely powerful, which only serve to make them better at what they do.

Tape Measure

Many people fail to realize that one of the most important tools in a contractor’s tool belt is the tape measure. Tape measures are a necessity when you’re working on a job that requires precision. For example, if you need to make sure that you have the correct size of material or that you can fit a certain appliance or piece of furniture through a doorway, having a form of measurement that provides you with that answer is critical. According to Alberto Mordoki, imprecision is simply unacceptable in the world of home renovations. Of course, mistakes happen from time to time, but inaccurate measurements can cause major mishaps that result in wasted resources, increased costs, and longer time frames.
